Split Rent by Income

Fair-share rent split for 2–4 housemates: proportional to income (each pays the same % of their pay) or equal (rent ÷ N). Side-by-side so you can pick what feels fair.

Limitations: Uses gross annual income. Does not model take-home pay, child support, fixed personal debts, parking fees, utilities, or per-room square-footage differences. Some pairs prefer equal-by-room-size — this tool doesn't compute that.

What to do next: Proportional is generally fairer when incomes diverge by more than 30%. The 30%-of-income rule of thumb (rent burden) flags a potential affordability issue — anything above 35% is high-burden territory in most US markets.
