RT60 Reverberation Estimator (Sabine)

Estimates reverberation time (RT60) for a room using the Sabine formula given room volume and total absorption. Accept either matched surfaces/coefficients arrays or a single total-absorption number.

Limitations: Sabine assumes evenly distributed absorbers and a not-overly-live room (RT60 ≲ 1.5 s). For concert halls, very reverberant rooms, or rooms with clustered absorption, use Eyring or Fitzroy instead. Single-frequency (500 Hz by convention) — real rooms differ across bands.

What to do next: For speech intelligibility in conference / classroom spaces, target RT60 of 0.4–0.7 s. For music rehearsal: 0.8–1.2 s. For large performance spaces: 1.5–2.5 s. Cite absorption coefficients from published sources (ASTM C423 mounting-method data, manufacturer sheets).
