Rack Power + Thermal Planner
Given equipment wattages in a rack, computes total planned load (with overhead), heat load in BTU/hr, AC cooling tonnage, and branch current at a given voltage / phase.
Limitations: Sensible cooling only — latent (humidity) cooling is 10–20% higher for humid spaces. Does NOT apply NEC conductor / breaker derating. UPS and PDU losses subsumed into the overhead factor.
What to do next: Nameplate is usually labeled maximum — real draw is typically 60–70% of nameplate for IT gear. If you have real PDU metering, use that instead. For dense deployments (> 10 kW/rack), use per-row or row-level CRAC modeling, not this planner.
