Estimate pavers, base gravel volume, bedding sand volume, and edge restraint for a rectangular patio or walkway.
Limitations: Assumes a rectangular project. Running-bond, herringbone, or 45° patterns often need 10–15% waste. Clay soils may require deeper base. Driveway installs need 8–12 inches of base vs 4–6 inches for walkways.
What to do next: Typical residential patio: 4–6 inch base, 1 inch bedding sand, 10% waste for straight-lay and 15% for patterned layouts. Always use polymeric joint sand AFTER install — it's sold separately and is not in this estimate.
