Brick & Block Calculator

Estimate brick or concrete masonry unit (CMU) count and mortar bags from wall face area.

Limitations: Assumes standard 3/8-inch mortar joints for brick and standard joint profile for CMU. Does not include ties, flashing, weeps, lintels, or veneer cavity components. Specialty bonds (Flemish, English) and architectural features need manual adjustment.

What to do next: For veneer walls, a typical 3-1/2-inch brick wythe is what's measured here. Structural brick and multi-wythe walls multiply the count by the number of wythes. Type N mortar for above-grade non-load-bearing; Type S for load-bearing or at/below grade.
Planning estimate only. Specialty bonds, architectural brick, and structural walls require a mason's takeoff.
