Estimate tons of hot-mix asphalt and base gravel volume for a driveway or parking pad.
Limitations: Typical hot-mix density is 142–150 lb/ft³. Cold-mix, porous, and warm-mix asphalts differ. Does not include sealcoat, tack coat, striping, or edge restraint. Engineered driveways may require geotextile fabric.
What to do next: Residential driveway: 3 inch compacted asphalt over 6 inch compacted aggregate base is common. Commercial / truck traffic needs 4+ inch asphalt and 8+ inch base. Confirm thickness with your local paving contractor.
